Asia Cup is one of the biggest cricketing events for the cricketing nations of the subcontinent. The competition was formed in 1983 as a measure to create goodwill among Asian countries. They will be joined by Hong Kong, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, who finished in the top three of the 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup.

India is the defending champion of the Asia Cup. They cruised past Sri Lanka by beating them by 10 wickets in the final. It was a one-sided game after the Indian bowlers bowled Sri Lanka out for just 50 runs. It was their 8th Asia Cup title, and they are the most successful team in the competition. This includes 7 ODI titles and one in the T20I format.

History

The competition was first hosted back in 1984. But after a certain years, there were problems. India boycotted the 1986 event due to poor cricket relations with Sri Lanka. Pakistan boycotted the 1990-91 tournament because of extremely tense political relations with India, and the 1993 event was called off for the same reason. After that, the ACC decided to hold the event bilingually. Sri Lanka is the team with the most appearances; they have appeared 16 times. India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have featured 15 times each.
