History of Liverpool Owners

The arrival of FSG

The arrival of FSG, the current Liverpool football club owner, led by John Henry and his wife Linda Pizzuti Henry, had brought many promises. And with the arrival of a certain German tactician from Dortmund, those promises were delivered. Henry is the principal owner of FSG. Mike Gordon and Tom Werner are the respective presidents and chairmen of the group. Be it the matches or charity events, you will see Linda Pizzuti Henry involved in all the events.

The company, which is based in Boston, owns other franchises too, such as the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Fenway Sports Group is part-owned by investment firms such as RedBird Capital Partners and Arctos Sports Partners. The Club has recently welcomed a minority investment from Dynasty Equity. What is the current ownership situation of Liverpool?

It was about fourteen years ago that John W. Henry first graced the high court as the new owner of Liverpool. The transformation has been just as profound as the Reds. From securing the sporting giant at a mere $391 million from the Hicks and Gillett’s tenure, the stewardship of FSG (current Liverpool football club owner) has seen the value rocket of Liverpool to an eye-watering $5.6 billion. Even amidst the triumph, the group has navigated the waters of the unknown for the past couple of years by dealing with transitions both within the corridors of the Kop and across the pond.

The statements a year ago had piqued interest from Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Qatar, among others, to be a potential shareholder of the team. FSG is focused on long-term success, with no plans to sell the club soon. They are also improving infrastructure, like the Anfield Road Stand, to enhance the fan experience. Fans of Liverpool are satisfied with the owners, and there are hardly any complaints against the FSG. The club is still focused on self-sustainability rather than being dependent on heavy external investments.

FSG or Fenway Sports Group, the Liverpool owners, is planning to pursue a multi-club ownership model to expand its global football presence.
