Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their 18-year drought of the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy by defeating Punjab Kings in the final match of the 18th season. To celebrate this historic occasion, RCB arranged a victory parade on June 4 in Bengaluru; however, what should have been an iconic celebration for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans turned into a horrific incident. A massive stampede during the parade resulted in multiple deaths, and a lot of people were left injured as well. However, the question arises: Who is responsible for RCB victory parade stampede?
Who is Responsible for the RCB's Victory Parade Stampede?

Minimal Preparation before Organising RCB Victory Parade
There are several videos on social media where thousands of people can be seen gathering for the victory parade to catch a glimpse of their heroes. However, the situation went out of control when fans started breaking through the barricades, and the lack of crowd management from the Karnataka police officials resulted in complete chaos. According to reports, at least 11 people are reported to be dead and 33 injured.
RCB management released a statement regarding the incident, expressing their concern and wrote, “We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extends our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration.”
The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, also expressed his deep regret about the incident. He took to Twitter and wrote,
The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery.
BCCI’s vice-president Rajiv Shukla talked to the media about the incident and said..
Govt did stop the roadshow in order to avoid stampede or any such situation. But, it was not anticipated that a stampede would happen outside the stadium. Everybody should work together on the damage control.
Karnataka CM announces ₹10 Lakhs Compensation and Free Treatment
The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, also expressed his concern over the incident and announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh to the families of the victims. He also announced free treatment to the people who were injured during the incident, even for those who are receiving the treatment in private hospitals.
A majority of those who lost their lives today are young people, both men and women. The government announces ₹10 lakh ex gratia to the kin of the victims. Free treatment to be provided to those injured. Even those who have taken treatment at private hospitals. Including out-patients, a total of 47 people have been injured. Siddaramaiah said.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal talked to India today and said that the victory parade in Bengaluru was not organised by BCCI, therefore, they aren’t responsible for it. He said,
It is sad and tragic. The celebrations turned into a tragedy. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families who lost their loved ones. For the BCCI, the IPL concluded last night. We had no knowledge of such an incident occurring, so how can we be held responsible for it? How can we be held responsible for something like this? It is indeed a very tragic incident, and we extend our deepest condolences. But we cannot be held accountable for something over which we had no control. I am not certain if the stampede occurred directly outside the stadium. I have no specific knowledge of that. Have you seen any IPL officials present at the gate, managing the crowd, or facilitating the players' entry?
It was also reported that RCB officials, who were inside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, were not aware of the incident happening outside, and after receiving the information, they immediately called off the event. The situation in Karnataka is reported to be under control as of now; however, the incident will be remembered forever as a horrific incident, which was supposed to be a celebratory walk.
