Sedona Prince had spent almost seven years playing college basketball. She was one of the big NCAA stars, touted to be selected as a first round pick in the WNBA Draft 2025. However, the TCU center's name was not called throughout the night of the draft event.
Despite First Round Pick Projection, Sedona Prince Remains Undrafted in WNBA Draft 2025

As a 6'7" center, Sedona Prince is a rarity in the league as a player-type. However, her draft pick appeared to be controversial considering the underlying accusations of sexual and physical assault from various ex-partners on her.
Furthermore, Prince turning 25 and having a significant age gap than others in her draft class was a major matter of concern for the GMs in the WNBA. Let's find out the real reason why was Sedona Prince not drafted in the WNBA Draft this year.
Why was Sedona Prince not drafted in the WNBA draft 2025?
Sedona Prince joined Oregon in 2019, graduating from the college in 2022. She then joined TCU in 2023, leading the team to their first Elite Eight appearance alongside teammates Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner.
On draft night, although TCU stars Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner were both selected in first and third rounds respectively, Prince's name was nowhere to be heard.
Perhaps, no team wanted to take the gamble on Prince, considering all the controversies surrounding her. Prince was best drawn to be picked by the Golden State Valkyries, who instead chose to select UConn guard Kaitlyn Chen instead.
There were concerns Prince's injury history and her ‘humongous’ age gap among her draft class made it murky for most GM's to come to a decision regarding her. As per ESPN, an anonymous WNBA GM said,
"She's [Sedona Prince] like a 24-year-old playing against, what, sometimes 18-year-olds?" the GM told ESPN. "She's older than some W players. And so it's just hard to tell, 'Are you that good, or are you just dominating people that are, like, literally, four and five years younger than you?'"
On top of that, Prince was facing multiple allegations of sexual and physical abuse. The first allegation came in 2019 and she was sued an year later for sexual misconduct.
Perhaps, Prince's basketball career is now overcast with all the underlying controversies and problems surrounding her personal and professional life. Her best bet would be for a team inviting her to a tryout, or otherwise, try her luck playing professionally overseas.
